2026–2027 School Year
Science with Mr. Sajdak
Environmental Science and Anatomy & Physiology at City Honors School. Check what we're doing each week, catch up after an absence, and run the labs we use in class.
New here? Start with the weekly schedule — it shows the objective, agenda, and homework for every class period.
Courses
What we're studying
Both courses run on the school's six-day cycle. Each has a full syllabus below; day-to-day plans, objectives, and homework live on the class schedule.
Environmental Science
How Earth's systems fit together and what happens when people change them — energy, climate, water, ecosystems, and the trade-offs behind real decisions. Heavy on data, fieldwork, and argument from evidence.
- Systems & cycles
- Energy
- Data analysis
- Fieldwork
Anatomy & Physiology
Structure and function from the cell up to whole body systems, with an emphasis on how the parts work together, how we know what we know, and what goes wrong when a system fails.
- Body systems
- Structure & function
- Lab work
- Case studies
Virtual labs
Simulations
Labs you run in the browser. Change one thing, watch what happens, and explain why. They work on a Chromebook, a phone, or the classroom board.
Environmental Science
All 4 labsPopulation Limits Lab
Why can't a population grow forever? Grow duckweed on a pond, follow the reindeer of St. Matthew Island, and test trout in water of different pH.
Open the labSea Otters and Kelp Lab
Count urchins and kelp on two Aleutian islands the way Jim Estes did, model a coast with and without otters, and test what holds California's otters back.
Open the labAnatomy & Physiology
All 4 labsThe Human Skeleton
All 206 bones in 3D. Turn it, take it apart, sort the bones by shape or region, and quiz yourself on every one.
Open the labSkin Under the Microscope
Measure the layers of thin and thick skin with an eyepiece scale, test how deep a cut must go to bleed, follow one skin cell for four weeks, and pull on the dermis.
Open the labChemistry
All 4 labsSalt From Poison
A metal that burns in water plus a poison gas makes table salt. Run the demo schools no longer allow, watch one electron jump, and build other salts.
Open the labAtomic Spectra
Watch atoms take in energy and give it back as light. Light up tubes of hydrogen, neon, mercury and more, then name a mystery gas by its colors.
Open the labThe Periodic Table in 3D
Every element is a tower. Switch the height between atomic radius, ionization energy, electronegativity and more, and watch the trends across the table.
Open the tableSee all 12 labs, with worksheets, slides and teacher guides. Also from class: Tragedy of the Commons and Electron Shells.

How to keep up with class
Check the schedule
The class schedule shows what we did and what's assigned, week by week. It's the fastest way to catch up after an absence — no login required.
Watch for graded work
Grades, missing assignments, and official announcements stay in the district's systems. This site is for course information and resources, not for grades or student records.
