Class Text Messages: Program Terms

These terms cover the class text message program run by Ryan Sajdak for his own classes. Last updated September 2026.

Consent is never required

Agreeing to receive text messages is not a condition of enrollment, participation, grading, or any other service. A family that declines receives exactly the same information by phone or email, and a student's grade and standing are completely unaffected.

What the program is

Short text messages to parents and guardians who have asked to receive them. Messages may include assignment and test reminders, a note when a student is marked absent from Mr. Sajdak's class period, and occasional updates when the class schedule changes. Recipients can reply, and replies are answered during school hours.

This is not a school-wide or district service and does not replace any official channel. Grades, evaluation results, health information, and discipline records are never sent by text.

Who can sign up

A parent or guardian who owns the mobile number they provide. Numbers are only ever added when given directly by that person, either on the signed paper consent form or by texting START to the class number. No number is added on someone else's behalf.

Message frequency

Message frequency varies, typically two to five messages per month, plus any replies sent to you.

Cost

There is no charge for this program. Message and data rates may apply from your carrier. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

How to stop

Reply STOP to any message and you are removed immediately. You will get one message confirming it, then nothing further. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, and QUIT work the same way. Reply HELP for contact information and a reminder of how to opt out. An opt-out is honored however it arrives, including in person or by email.

If you opt out and later change your mind, text START again or say so in writing.

Changes

If these terms change, the updated version is posted on this page and the date above is revised. Consent is collected again each school year, because rosters change and consent does not carry over.
